Modern Slavery Statement
Last updated: 29 June 2026
Meridia is committed to acting ethically and with integrity, and to identifying and reducing the risk of modern slavery in our operations and supply chains. This statement outlines our approach with reference to the reporting criteria under the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth).
About this statement
Modern slavery describes serious forms of exploitation, including human trafficking, slavery, servitude, forced labour, debt bondage, forced marriage and the worst forms of child labour. As an organisation working alongside people and communities, we recognise our responsibility to respect human rights and to play our part in addressing modern slavery in Australia and beyond. Where our consolidated revenue does not meet the mandatory reporting threshold under the Act, we provide this statement on a voluntary basis.
Our structure, operations and supply chains
Meridia is a parent organisation that brings together a connected group of disability, employment, mental health, clinical and community-services brands operating across Australia. Our operations include delivering support services, employing staff, and engaging contractors and suppliers. Our supply chains include the goods and services that support our work, such as information technology, professional services, facilities and property, equipment, and consumables.
Modern slavery risks in our operations and supply chains
We recognise that modern slavery risks can exist in any supply chain. We consider areas of potentially higher risk to include goods and services sourced from sectors or regions associated with labour exploitation, the use of subcontracted or labour-hire arrangements, and the procurement of products such as electronics, uniforms, and cleaning and facilities services. We assess the risk within our direct operations to be lower, given our Australian workforce and employment practices, but we remain alert to risks across our extended supply chains.
Actions we take to assess and address risks
We take a continuous-improvement approach to assessing and addressing modern slavery risks, including:
- maintaining policies that support ethical conduct, fair employment and safe workplaces;
- considering modern slavery risks when selecting and engaging suppliers and contractors;
- seeking to work with suppliers who share our commitment to ethical and lawful practices;
- providing avenues for our people and others to raise concerns, including about suspected exploitation; and
- building awareness of modern slavery across our organisation.
Where we identify a concern, we will respond appropriately, which may include working with the supplier to remediate the issue or, if necessary, ending the relationship.
Assessing the effectiveness of our actions
We review our approach over time and aim to strengthen it as our understanding matures. We assess effectiveness through measures such as monitoring supplier engagement, reviewing the concerns raised through our reporting channels, and updating our policies and practices in response to what we learn.
Consultation
Meridia consults with its member organisations in developing this statement and our broader approach to modern slavery, so that our commitments are understood and applied consistently across the group.
Continuous improvement
We recognise that addressing modern slavery is an ongoing process. We are committed to reviewing and improving our practices each year and to taking meaningful steps to reduce the risk of modern slavery in our operations and supply chains.
